Preparing with presence. This moment is all we have.

Preparing with presence. This moment is all we have.

Last night at the Reggae Festival, I had the most unexpected and meaningful conversation with a beautiful new friend. We have many mutual friends and I've seen her around over the years but we'd yet to converse directly with one another. I felt a strong call to connect as well as hesitancy - fear of rejection or being weird (and maybe just a little shy). I'm so glad I leaned in. I'm glad I asked for and offered a hug. We talked for almost an hour. We shared stories and books we are reading, held each other in the grief and joys of childhhood and parenthood, and acknowledged our fears and our bravery. We really saw each other. We became so present that we didn't even notice the entire festival was being packed up around us and we were the last ones to leave.

I feel great hope and inspiration from this interaction. I feel proud of myself for moving toward my fear with intuition. The payoff was connection and shared presence. This matters more to me than anything these days - "dropping in" to the shared field and just being together. The collective field is strong and we can learn how to listen and be present for magic moments like this one to unfold.

First, we must deny the messages and conditioning that try to keep us separate and at odds. We must quiet the static, past stories, or future casting that keep us from present relating.

I am hearing this resounding and similar theme from all of my clients and in discussion with friends, our bodies can't tolerate this much pressure or anxiety. The way out and through is loving presence. I am here and I care and I really, really hope for the opportunity to share tools, special moments, and experiences with you.

Here's a little song that dropped in to my consciousness this morning that I'd like to share. And if you identify as a Woman and would like to join our Women's Song Circle and Potluck, please join us tomorrow, Tuesday 6:30-8:30pm. Message me for more info.
